public works Planetree Spirits Hippocrates taught his young doctors under a Planetree (Sycamore). There, he emphasized compassion, patient rights, and observed that the environment was an important factor in their healing. In this spirit, Jeffrey Maron has placed Planetree Spirits in the “Gardens for Healing”, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, New Jersey. The area underneath the sculpture will be dynamic, yet soothing, inviting a walk underneath. Patients, care givers, doctors and family will all be able to take a moment to enjoy this sculpture and perhaps then face their health care with better equanimity and spirit.
